Hello,

I have a motherboard with a integrated RealTek 8105E NIC-chip that is not natively supported by Askozia 2.0.4. This version of Askozia uses kernel 2.6.17. I also tried to build the most recent version of Askozia from the svn-trunk. This version uses the 2.6.30 kernel. But no luck, I bumped into the same problem. The wrong driver is loaded and the network is not functioning. So I downloaded the code of the RealTek website (http://www.realtek.com.tw/) and tried to compile the driver myself in VMWare with the T2 development environment. But no luck because the T2 Environment works on kernel 2.6.21 and the latest version of Askozia on kernel 2.6.30. Could someone give me a hint how to solve this problem? The motherboard and the NIC are functioning properly with Ubuntu.

Regards,

Roy

Problem seems to be in the standard Askozia R8169 driver. Maybe the small uLibC in combination with the Realtek driver is problematic. The same driver with Ubuntu is working flawlessly. Also optimising for size can be a problem. I will investigate this further.

Sadly a build with glibc terminates on error:

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?

Finally, my NIC is working now. It seems to be a bug in the r8169 driver of kernel 2.6.30.3.  After a lot of trying/work I finally succeeded in compiling Askozia with kernel 2.6.35.9. With this version of the kernel/driver my NIC is working  :).
