Hi The problem was with vista not writing to the cf card. I have managed to get the image installed on the cf card, but I'm having problems booting the image, I get the following from the console port..... TCP cubic registered NET: Registered protocol family 17 Using IPI Shortcut mode rtc_cmos rtc_cmos: setting system clock to 2010-02-17 19:01:09 UTC (1266433269) Freeing unused kernel memory: 284k freed Mounting /dev, /dev/pts, /proc, /usbfs and /sys ... Increasing verbosity ... Populating u/dev ... checking for livecd... mount: mounting /dev/hdc on /offload failed: No such file or directory attempting to mount /offload partition... waiting for disks to settle and trying again...
The system was unable to find the /offload partition!
Send in the output of (ls /dev) and (fdisk -l) to the development team to get this fixed. Thanks...and sorry this is not already working better!

This is the second report of a Soekris not finding /offload. Really would like to get this fixed before RC2. Anyone know their CF's default device node name?

Sorry! Forgot that lspci isn't in the path, should be /usr/sbin/lspci -k -nn

Michael, it you instruct me on how to obtain the information, it will dig for info. Would it be any help if I post the entire startup output?? Regards Dave

This is the second report of a Soekris not finding /offload.
In my little experience when fdisk reports none the kernel was not finding the mass storage device because no drivers/modules for that hardware. So Dave can't run lspci because the system can't read the filesystem. The net4801 (like some old wrap boards by pc engines) has a SCx200 chipset (National) but looking at target/pbx-generic-pc|pbx-embedded/linux.config we have: # CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SC1200 is not setA quite old but useful document about linux&4801 where you can find more details: http://www.brixandersen.dk/papers/net4801/net4801.html. I'm going crazy for a similar problem with a sata ich7 board. Tried to recompile the image adding CONFIG_ATA_PIIX=y in linux.config but this is ignored compiling the kernel but no errors. Any suggestion?

Some dep wasn't met it seems like.
I usually: make a temporary subdirectory, extract the kernel source there, copy the linux.config in there as .config and run make menuconfig. I tried doing things by hand before but there was always some dependency which wasn't met. Kernel config is still a nightmare.
I just committed huge changes to the embedded and generic-pc kernels which should enable all non-experimental SATA/PATA drivers as well as a bunch of unchecked IDE drivers (including the soekris one).
That should hopefully reduce the reports of unsuccessful /offload mounting...

Hi Michael I tried the /pbx/snapshots/r1360 snapshot, but the image stops at the same point. I presume that is the latest image?

RC1 is actually r1365. I'll not the revision each time from now on...sorry. The latest changes I checked in have not yet been released in an image. To keep up with those changes, check out: https://wush.net/trac/askozia/timelineHopefully something will be up for testing tomorrow. I have a few other bugs still to work out which apply to all platforms. Today I spent nearly 7 hours debugging analog and ISDN drivers on the COMpact 3000 platform....otherwise I would have had an image up tonight. Driver debugging is not my thing. Yuck!

Ok, some feedback and quite good news from the test-bench using sources at svn revision 1382 (*).
- SATA support now works (Jetway JNC92-230-LF). - Now also Via VB7001 works. Boots via CF->IDE adapter, won't recognize the CF->SATA (bios issue). - Single port FXO PCI card detected and configured, do/receive calls (no further testing). - Generic HFC PCI card detected/configured (no further testing at this time, I feel that there will be problems...). - Additional storage detection/formatting/mounting (even at reboot) works, tested on IDE/SATA/USB. - HFC4S in NT point to point mode seem to work the right way.
(*) garbage in the danish language files stops compilation.

Thanks for the reports. Things do look a lot better!
I have to move DAHDI back down to 2.2.0 because of some issues with the COMpact 3000 hardware's custom drivers. They're not even heavily tested so a version bump probably wasn't the smartest idea on my part.
I've ported all of the important stuff back from 2.2.1 so those newly supported cards should still be supported.
Really glad the SATA/expanded IDE support worked.
