I have been trying to play with this setting under Accounts - Phone, and I am not having much luck figuring out what it does.

Some discussion at this link and through Google to if this feature is even in Asterisk 1.4:

http://forums.digium.com/viewtopic.php?p=48284

Also, the interface currently states "Permit only 'n' outgoing call(s) and 'n' incoming call(s)" for Call Limit and the way I read this is I expect to have '2' outgoing and '2' incoming calls allowed, for a total of 4 calls, when Call Limit is set to '2'. When set to '2' though, once 2 lines are in use you can't dial out from the phone and people dialling in get voice mail. So I am assuming this should say something like "Permit only 'n' call(s)"?

I believe the intention is for Call Limit to set a hard limit on the amount of calls the phone can use at any given time, and the Busy Limit is to set how many calls the phone would have to be using before an incoming call would get a busy signal. So if you had Busy Limit set for 1, and were already using the phone, a new incoming call would get the busy signal, but as long as your Call Limit was above 1, you could still use your other lines for transfers, etc.

Hopefully I am getting this right...

You're right, the wording on that feature is inaccurate. I'll change it for the next update. (I can already hear the translators groaning...) Wink
