I am in the middle of a project to peer two asterisk boxes via IAX2.  One box is a TrixboxCE and the other is the current latest Askozia.  I can make the peer trunk work and can get calls routed to and from each PBX and everything is fine, but it required editing the iax.conf on the Askozia directly via SSH.  My problem is when the system reboots.  It overwrites the iax.conf with whatever settings are held in the XML file (I am guessing) and therefore blows away all of my settings.  I can't seem to make this config work from the gui so that option is out.  I've given chmod 444 to iax.conf, but after reboot it comes back as a 644 with bad configuration.  I've set it to be owned by a different group and changed back to 444 but I'm sure i'm going to see the same results.  How do I fix this?

Press 'ESC' anywhere in the GUI to open the Integrator Panel. In that panel you can use the files tab to make permanent appends or overrides to many of the generated files in the system.

I would have never figured that out.  I wish I would have known.  It helps tremendously, thanks!

You're right, the Integrator Panel needs to be documented! Here's a first step...at least your question is answered here:
